Making The Turn

Making the Turn uses Tour Level Fantasy’s unique combination of data and the human element in an attempt to be THE place to turn for weekend only golf picks.

Moving Day Specials: Guys at the bottom of the pack who can make a run and come in at low ownership

Jason Dufner ($9300, T47)- Yikes Duf had a tough first day shooting a 74 but he rallied today shooting 66, 8 strokes better, and looked focused. He lost over 3.5 strokes OTT and over 2.5 strokes BS the first 2 days. He only had 9 birdies in the first 2 rounds and made pars on 58% of his holes. He certainly has the ability to go out and make bridies-a-plenty this weekend and that is all we really care about.

Tony Finau ($7000, T29)- In nearly the reverse of Dufner, Finau had a tough day out there today shooting 7 strokes worse today than Thursday. The main culprit for Finau was his work around the green where he lost 3 strokes on the field. Also un-Finau like he only had 9 birdies in the first 2 days. That should correct itself over the weekend- 4 guaranteed Finau rounds is never a bad thing!

Luke List ($7000, T35)- List found himself in this weeks Winning Element for his point scoring ability. He still gets 2 more rounds so by those calculations List has 36 more chances to score DK points at the minimum price for weekend format. Oh and did I mention he has 2 eagles? Take the discount and upside here so you can fill up on higher priced guys.

Henrik Stenson ($8900, T35)- Another guy who got off to a rough start on Thursday but put in a solid round today. Stenson only had 6 birdies in the first 2 days and only 2 boogies. I expect Stenson will start making more birdies over the weekend as he tries to get himself into a good spot for next weekend.

Chasers- Guys Outside of Top 10

Jordan Spieth ($11800, T12)- Spieth is playing rather pedestrian for him but he is avoiding boogies and other big numbers so he would be a good bet to start making a move come tomorrow.

Justin Rose ($8500, T12)- Similar to Spieth he hasn’t really done anything bad but he just isn’t making as many birdies as he should. He is gaining plenty of strokes OTT and he is putting just a little below his playoff standard. He can turn that around this weekend.

Phil Mickelson ($7300, T12)- MICKELSON! Out there doing Mickelson things. He had a pretty easy eagle today and he is avoiding blowup holes, which is usually his big issue. He is losing some strokes around the green and that is a real departure from the Phil we know. He should get things moving this weekend as he makes a push to finish the season strong.

Paul Casey (9200, T22)- Casey is playing really well considering that his wife just had a baby and he had no practice rounds before this tournament. Consider Thursday and Friday his practice rounds and look for him to make a move this weekend as he ranks 13th on tour in rounds in the 60s.
