Well, if you had DJ or Rahm, this article will be very pertinent for you. If not, DK is offering some great contests this weekend if you’re trying to “double down” on your investment.
Last Week’s Results/Article:
So, we didn’t highlight MY GUY Brian Stuard who was top point earner with the ACE bonus, but we did get 4,5,8.9,15…that’s pretty good! We will try and get the top guy again this week!
Last Week’s Results/Draft Kings:
In an effort to help all readers understand contest selection, from now on I will start to post “cash” lines for the variety of contests DK puts out. This should help everyone understand how to properly allocate their bankroll. Want to see a specific contest? Let me know and I’ll be glad to add it.
Firstly, no MDF. Let’s get that out of the way right away. Secondly, Jason Dufner was so freaking on fire that…I am absolutely fading over the weekend. I know his salary is actually pretty good, but he CAN’T play this good again… can he? I can assure you that SB2K members will be the highlight of my lineups this weekend. They all looked like they are rounding into form at a perfect time. To do that, we are going to need to find some values and that’s what I’m going to do for you here.
DraftKing Contests: Heads up: Lock is scheduled right now for 6:00 am but I expect them to move it to 7:40 am when the first tee time is.

We all know statistics can help identify trends in specific golfers, and may help identify a player that is on the brink of a good round/tournament. If you haven’t checked out the weekend-only cheat sheet, then you should. We have a full list of the SG data for rounds 1 and 2 to help you pinpoint golfers that could score this weekend!

Week Long Contests:
Quick review on top scores and cut made %’s:
Percentage of Lineups with 6/6: TONY FEEEEENOW with a miraculous birdie birdie birdie finish to make the cut pushed it up to just about 15% across most of the contests.
@dfsgolf23 Sweats- I was 5/6 in the Thunderdome this week. I was able to avoid DJ and Rahm, but I decided to go with Kevin Tway over good ol’ reliable Charley Hoffman. Still only 1 guy got 6/6 so I’ve got a great shot at another top 3. I also sit in third in the club house with 6/6 and 21st in the PP with 6/6. Shaping up to be possibly a big weekend.
Top Score: $444 Pressure Putt- 334.50 $36 Up and Down 367.00 . $8 best ball 373.0 $4 fore – 374
Lowest Score: For one of the first times, I have a 0/6. 123.50 points. WOW.
Weekend Only (WO) Player Focus
These are golfers that are outside the top 10 heading into the weekend, who we expect to be moving up the leaderboard. To move up the leaderboard on moving day, you need to make birdies and eagles, and that means DK points, no matter the format.
Tony Finau (NA $8,300) T64 (+3) HOW CAN HE NOT BE ON HERE? But in all seriousness, he has 37 DK points and is in 65th. For perspective, that’s more than Steve Stricker has who is in in the top 25! Making a birdie on over 25% of his holes, Finau sets up for great weekend only play, and I’m sure will have a very positive attitude after birding his last 3 to make the cut. GO TONY!
Patrick Cantlay (300/1 $8,600) T35 (-1) #LOC nails 2 eagles and 8 birdies on his first 2 days, but 7 bogey’s and 2 others keeps him from the top of the leaderboard. However, it was still encouraging to see the amount of DK points he racked up. His SGAPP and SGOTT as expected are very good. If that continues into the weekend he’ll be in the mix for another 30-35 points. He’s also making BOB on over 27% of his holes, and that projects very nicely for the weekend points.
Ross Fisher( 250/1 $7,900) T24 (-2) Well I am really sticking with the BOB% theme here, because listen that means POINTS. and that’s all DK cares about on the weekend. He also birdies over 25% of his holes. He’s getting this done by his approach shots gaining over a shot and half on his SGAPP. If his putter heats up, gaining well under a stroke right now, should yield plenty of birdies, or better.
Bud Cauley ( 200/1 $7,600) T24 (-2) Cauley really found something on these greens in round 2 pouring in 8 birdies in round 2. Still, round 1 was so bad with the flat stick yet again, that he’s losing almost a shot to the field in SGP. If his putter stays hot in round 3, I love Cauley to make at least 5 more birdies, and pour in a good amount of DK points. Oh and by the way, his BOB% is over 25%.
Brett Coletta (NA $7,100) T20 (-3) Who is Brett gotta drink a Coletta? You know that drink from Dunkin’ Donuts? Anyways, Brett is a 20 yr old from Australia that has status on both the Canadian Tour and the Australian tour. Making good on his sponsors exemption this week. In just his second PGA Tour start, Coletta found 11 birdies over the first 2 days, giving him a BOB% of over 25%. If you’re going to stack SB2K17, you’re going to want this newly turned pro (January of this year) to be a part of that lineup. Sam Saunders, grandson of the late great King and playing partner of Brett, was quoted as saying “I expect this kid to be inside the top 10 in the world in not to long”… OFFICIALLY PUT ON “CANTLAY TYPE” WATCH! Also one to watch is his country mate Curtis Luck, but most people know about him as he was the #1 ranked amateur in the world.
Grayson Murray (NA $7,000) T35 (-1) Grayson found himself very warm on the back side of the golf course this morning getting it to 4 under at one point, but an unforced error from the fairway on 18 ending up with double killed some momentum. He was able to find 9 birdies over the first two rounds and at basically the min price, a repeat performance would yield a really nice investment. Good luck @graysonmurray.
These are guys inside the top 10 of the leaderboard, but don’t expect their game to drop off at all as we expect them to continue to make eagles and birdies, making them must haves on your weekend only teams.
SB2K17- ALL THE WAY. In addition I like: (If you don’t know SB2K17 = Fowler/Spieth/Thomas… (and Kaufman but he blew up today and missed the cut so don’t roster him)
David Lingmerth ($7,500 66/1) -5 (T7) A dazzling first round followed up with a 74 has David feeling unsatisfied. He tweeted out as saying he was excited by the birdie he made on his 18th hole and pumped for the weekend. That’s enough motivation for me to roster him. Oh and it doesn’t hurt that he’s a previous winner here, and has been quoted as saying it’s one of his favorite courses. Let’s ride the positive momentum and roster him with SB2K17.
